Ecological Responsibility... Wolf & Wolf Seeds is committed to the conservation of our natural resources, and is always looking to improve its environmental performance. Soil is fundamental to the world’s ecosystem and increasingly considered a limited resource. Therefore, the protection of the soil and improvement of soil care systems are part of the guiding principles of Wolf & Wolf Seeds. We are committed to bring you innovative solutions to increase your production in a sustainable and environmentally conscious manner. To this end we have a dedicated and highly trained technical team that will help you to find the best ways to protect your soil, plant the most appropriate grasses and legumes to ensure a sustainable future for you and your production.

Wolf & Wolf Seeds has become very active in introducing beneficial trees for landscaping, soil protection, and for use in silvo-pastoral systems. We have committed ourselves through several partnerships to plant 500,000 trees by 2010, benefitting everyone.

What are the benefits of planting trees? Trees:

  • Produce oxygen and cleaner air through photosynthesis;
  • Improve microclimates;
  • Decrease pollution;
  • Increase the capacity of the soil to retain humidity;
  • Sequester carbon;
  • Act as wind barriers;
  • Allow water to seep through the soil;
  • Reduce noise pollution;
  • Support a variety of other plants and animals;
  • Improve nutrient cycles of the soil;
  • Provide shade and shelter;
  • Improve the landscape.

Silvo-Pastoral Sytems

  • Provide shade and shelter for cattle;
  • Improve the quality of the soil through improved nutrient cycling. The profound root systems of trees allow nutrients deep in the subsoil to be brought to the top soil where forage grasses with less deep root systems are able to take up these vital nutrients.;
  • Improve the nutritional content of pastures. Some varieties of forage grasses and legumes grow very well in shade and this variety of species allows for a more diverse diet that contains more protein.;
  • Many tree species, especially leguminous trees, produce beans, fruits and green matter that are available during the dry seasons when pastures are less productive, supplementing the diet of the cattle.;
  • Improve ecological diversity since trees help improve the soil, which in turn attracts other plants and insects that aid in controlling infestations such as spittlebug.;
  • Allow farmers to have a diversified production as trees can be used to supplement farm income as they are able to produce timber, nuts, oils, resins, etc., all of which can add an economic benefit to the farm.
